Bike & Build

Summer 2012, I embarked on a 2½-month journey across the United States by bicycle to raise awareness for affordable housing. 9.5 million people are confronted with low-incomes and rising housing prices and they still need our help. My trip was through a non-profit organization called Bike and Build, which has raised and donated nearly $4 million since 2003 for affordable housing.

As part of the journey, my group of 32 riders stopped on average once a week to dedicate a full day to local housing projects. Coupled with the another seven routes that Bike & Build runs across the country, there were nearly 250 volunteers hammering nails, painting walls, and pedaling for the cause.

My trip began in Providence, NH and ended in Vancouver, BC.

This summer I'm taking part in the Capital Ride, a 2-week journey from Richmond, VA to Philadelphia, PA, comprised of alumni and new riders. To donate to my trip and the affordable housing cause, visit www.bikeandbuild.org/donate (don't forget to donate in my name "Bryn Sowash")
